The location
Wetzlar is located in the Lahn-Dill district in Central Hesse on the Lahn, one of the most beautiful recreational waterways in Germany. Nearby to the south of the Lahn lies the Taunus Mountains, and to the north and west of the Dill River begins the Westerwald Forest. Frankfurt am Main is about 60 kilometers away from Wetzlar.

The city
Even Goethe fell in love with Wetzlar. Medieval squares, impressive and lovingly maintained half-timbered houses and playful baroque buildings on the banks of the Lahn can be found in the old town of Wetzlar. Impressive is the cathedral in the center, which shines in both Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles.

The small boutiques, specialty stores, cafes and restaurants invite you to stroll through the historic city center. There are six museums in the old town. Among them is the Lottehaus, which commemorates the stay of Johann Wolfgang Goethe in the summer of 1772. In the former imperial city he experienced the story he described in his epistolary novel "The Sorrows of Young Werther". Goethe and his Werther became world famous and Wetzlar still has a place in world literature.

Of course, the city of optics also offers a number of other attractions in addition to the Leica and optics course, including the Wetzlar Viseum, where young and old can try out and discover optical phenomena.

You register on Friday from 13:00 at the restaurant Paulaner in the center of Wetzlar (Haarplatz 1, 35576 Wetzlar). Here you can enjoy a freshly tapped beer and a first view of the old town of Wetzlar to get in the mood for the weekend. Registration ends here at 5:00 pm.

Lake Dutenhofen

We celebrate the Welcome at the Beachclub Dutenhofener See. More precisely, on the area of the local restaurant Zum Anker. In addition to the spacious restaurant with beer garden, this offers an open area directly on the beach, which we will use for our AGM 2022 marquee. In keeping with the style, we will design the area according to the Welcome and Farewell events. The recreation area also offers a camping site, water ski facility and the possibility for walks through nature.

In a place where more than 4,000 fans usually cheer on HSG Wetzlar in the 1st Handball Bundesliga and where concerts and musicals by international stars take place, you take your seat at the elegantly set table for the gala evening in a festive atmosphere.

Farewell

After a lively gala night, we will return to our usual location on Sunday at 9:00 am for the Farewell. A fine finale with jazz music and a delicious breakfast buffet will round off your memories of the AGM 2022 and strengthen you for the journey home. Nice, if you were there!
